 Friday, May 10th 2024  - Fairbanks. A full day in Fairbanks gives you time to get a feel for the unique culture and history of the region. You'll take a cruise on an authentic Sternwheeler Riverboat down the Chena River then enjoy a Gold Dredge 8 tour with the chance to pan for your own gold. A hearty miner's lunch is included. The evening is at leisure.

Saturday, May 11th 2024 - Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge. This morning, you say goodbye to Fairbanks for the spectacular trip to Denali National Park via motorcoach. You'll be welcomed at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge for a 2-night retreat. Check in with the Guest Service Desk for help in planning your own Denali adventure like a husky homestead tour, river rafting, hiking, glacier flightseeing or an off-road ATV adventure. Or you may enjoy the spectacular main lodge, river view deck, and Princess Village with the popular Christmas cottage and sugar shack. Sunday, May 12th 2024—Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge. You have a full day to get out into one of America's best national parks. This afternoon, explore Denali National Park on a Natural History Tour, watching for glimpses of Denali as well as Denali's "Big Five"; moose, caribou, bears, wolves and Dall sheep.

Monday, May 13th 2024  - Mt. Mckinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. This morning, you'll travel by motorcoach to Denali State Park for two relaxing nights at the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. Take in the sensational views of Denali and the Alaska Range with a glass of wine in the Great Room or on the expansive deck. Hear stories about climbing Denali in the Hudson Theater or roast a marshmallow at the fireside patio.

Tuesday, May 14th 2024—Mt. Mckinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. You have a full day to plan however you choose. Stop by the Tour Desk to book a variety of optional excursions. Walk the nature trails around the lodge or sit and gaze at the majesty of "The Great One" from the lodge's treehouse, designed and built by Pete Nelson of Animal Planet's Treehouse Masters.

Wednesday, May 15th 2024 - Whittier. After a morning enjoying the lodge, you'll transfer to the historic town of Talkeetna to board our exclusive Direct-to-the-Wilderness Rail service for the journey to Whittier and your waiting ship. We depart from Whittier at 8:30pm

 

Day 8 - Thursday, May 16 -                                               Hubbard Glacier (Scenic cruising),            03:00 pm

 

Nicknamed the "Galloping Glacier," this east Alaskan glacier is rapidly advancing toward

the Gulf of Alaska into a pristine area known as Disenchantment Bay. In fact, its movement

temporarily formed a natural dam that twice closed off nearby Russell Fjord from the bay,

 but the intense water pressure building within the fjord-turned-lake has thus far been enough

to explode through the wall of ice. The largest tide-water glacier in North America, Hubbard

 Glacier measures 76 miles long and plunges 1,200 feet into the depths of the bay. Its immense

beauty and phenomenal blue hues are enchanting,

Skagway, Alaska - The sidewalks are all but rolled up  in Skagway come winter,  you can only imagine the  frightful conditions endured by the gold prospectors who passed through en route to the Yukon, with a mandatory ton of supplies to be hauled with them over the steep and treacherous Trail of '98.

 21st-century summertime visits to Skagway require nothing of the sort, but you can still ride the

antique White Pass & Yukon narrow-gauge railway up  through silvery-purple rock faces, past Deadhorse Gulch, to see what it was like back then. Biking, rock- climbing and flightseeing adventures are also  available from Skagway

Juneau, Alaska - Alaska's capital  city, accessible only by boat or by plane, may be geographcally

secluded, but it's a sociable pot. The city sits on the rugged shores of Gastineau Channel, its

skyline dominated by immediate mountains. The famous Mendenhall Glacier rests in

Juneau's back yard. Area waters are home to humpbacks, halibut and an array of almon.

The national bird flies local skies. Roughly  50 per- cent of the world's population of eagles

 resides in Alaska.

Ketchikan is well known as the salmon capital of the world and a paradise for sport fishermen

 and naturalists alike. During the summer months, the town bustles with visitors from

all over the world. While the rustic boardwalk on Creek Street preserves a distinct historic

feel, the town hums with new construction  to keep up with the ever- expanding wave

of tourism. Ketchikan has a population of 14,500 and is built along a steep hillside,

with sections of the town built right over the water on pilings. An outstanding collection of

totem poles make a visit to Ketchikan essential for anyone interested in Native art. Ketchikan's name supposedly comes from the native term "Katch Kanna", which roughly translates: "spread wings of a thundering eagle" and rightly  named, for you only need to look along the water line and you're likely to see many bald eagles on waterside perches.
